Bruce Eckel has published 11 books — including Thinking in C++, Thinking in Java, Atomic Kotlin, On Java 8, and Effect Oriented Programming — along with numerous blog posts, over 150 articles, and hundreds of presentations around the world. He was a founding member of the ANSI/ISO C++ committee, cofounded the JavaPosse Roundup (now the Winter Tech Forum), and created Evolve Coworking in Crested Butte, CO. He runs Developer Retreats and provides training and consulting in programming languages and software design. He is currently working on a Python book, Thinking in Types.
James Ward

James Ward is a developer, speaker, and long-time developer advocate who co-authored Effect Oriented Programming with Bruce Eckel and Bill Frasure. Over two decades he has worked across the JVM ecosystem and beyond — Scala, Kotlin, Java, ZIO, Serverless, GraalVM, and more — helping developers learn and get excited about new technology. He is a firm believer in functional programming, strong types, immutability, and boolean-only tests with assertTrue over test-assertion DSLs.
